Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget is the only 4* rated hotel downtown.

The hotel was designed by Steve Wynn who sold it many moons ago along with The Mirage, Bellagio and Treasure Island to MGM (who have also since sold it on).

The hotel features its very own Shark Tank in the swimming pool with a water slide running through the middle of it. Non hotel guests can view this by heading towards the back of the casino where there are glass window viewing areas.

The Golden Nugget is split into 4 towers – the Rush Tower is the newest most renovated tower with rooms similar to what you would find on the Strip, then comes the Spa tower, followed by the Gold tower and finally Carson Tower  which house the Nugget’s entry level rooms. I have stayed in the Carson tower twice and have been perfectly happy both times.

The Nugget’s bars and restaurants are amongst the smartest downtown but are also the priciest. The Golddiggers bar/nightclub has a great patio overlooking the Fremont St show.

The Nugget is a great option for people who want to experience a night or two downtown, yet know they can retreat into a large resort style casino at the end of the day.
