Ballys started off life as MGM Grand in 1973, until a tragic fire shut it down and MGM Grand moved to its current location. Re-opened as Ballys it is now one of the oldest casino hotels on the strip and is still going strong. Ballys certainly has a lot of charm, especially if you are interested in an older Las Vegas feel. The clientele here skews a little older as do the cocktail waitresses and this gives the casino a slightly less manic feel than some of its neighbours. The rooms, though certainly not as grand as some others on the strip, are large and clean, and they have recently had a little bit of a revamp, which has made things feel nice and fresh, but without ruining the character of the place.
