Treasure Island, along with The Mirage, was one of Steve Wynn’s early Strip creations.
Treasure Island used to be part of the MGM Group, but is now owned independently with its own players card. The people who now own TI have done a little bit of work on bringing the property up-to-date. There is no evidence that they are returning to the family friendly Treasure Island that MGM tried to remove, and this is probably a good thing, the latest arrivals on the food and drink scene (Senor Frogs and Gilley’s) are very alcohol orientated!
One sad note is that they have permanently cancelled The Sirens of TI show at the front of the property. I’m pretty upset about that as it was a classic Vegas sight for newbies to the strip and I used to enjoy walking past listening to the music even numerous trips later.
The bedrooms here are good for the size. The pool is usually busy and isn’t the most exciting, but it is adequate.
The Poker room has also been moved from its cut off location down the corridor leading to the Mirage tram, to a new room near the deli which is a big improvement for poker players.
TI has recently had a new carpet installed in the casino and I like it very much, it’s bright and cheery with nods to the pirate theme. I might be alone in finding things like this interesting…
